In July 2016, LGBT Youth Scotland brought together a group of young people from across Scotland to form a youth commission whose purpose was to explore LGBT young people's experiences of homelessness, and how this links with experience of domestic abuse and abuse in the family.
The Youth Commission have reviewed existing research and have consulted with over 100 LGBT young people and 20 professionals to identify;
- Causes of homelessness for LGBT young people
- Links between homelessness and experiences of abuse
- Barriers LGBT young people face when accessing support
- Challenges faced by professionals when supporting LGBT young people
The exhibition will feature a range of art works developed by LGBT young people to highlight these key issues.
There will also be a presentation of key findings and opportunity to explore these issues further. The youth commission will also share recommendations to improve service responses to LGBT young people who experience homelessness and/ or abuse.
Tea/Coffee and light refreshments will be available.
