Training: LGBT Peoples’ Experiences of Domestic Abuse

The LGBT Domestic Abuse Project at LGBT Youth Scotland has been funded by the Scottish Government to provide a targeted multi-agency training on Understanding LGBT Peoples’ Experiences of Domestic Abuse this year. Unfortunately, we can’t deliver training while we all take steps to control the spread of COVID-19, so instead… we are GOING DIGITAL!

Our Development Officer, Janice Stevenson, will be delivering an online presentation focused on LGBT Domestic Abuse on 3rd June 2020, using Microsoft Teams.

This is a 90 minute workshop that will allow participants to:

  • Reflect on the nature of homo/bi/transphobia and consider how this impacts on LGBT people’s experience of domestic abuse
  • Understand the impact and dynamics of LGBT people’s experiences of domestic abuse
  • Reflect on the nature of homo/bi/transphobia and heterosexism and consider how this impacts on LGBT people’s access to support service.

We are particularly keen to engage front-line workers in public services such as Health, Housing, Policing and the criminal justice system and social work, as well as third sector organisations that provide support, advice or information.

No more than 2 people from any one organisation may take part and spaces will be allocated to ensure a broad range of organisations are able to take part.

Please complete our online form to express an interest in attending. You will be notified whether you have a space no later than 29th May. Please save the date in your calendar until then.

If you require any further information about this event, please contact: Janice.Stevenson@lgbtyouth.org.uk

Places will be allocated according to sector to ensure a mix of professional disciplines are able to attend. Save the date in your calendar and we will notify you no later than Monday 22nd April 2019 whether you have been allocated a space or placed on the waiting list.
