Transgender Experiences of Domestic Abuse: Creating Inclusive Services

The LGBT Domestic Abuse Project at LGBT Youth Scotland has been funded by the Scottish Government to provide a targeted multi-agency training on Understanding Transgender Peoples’ Experiences of Domestic Abuse. This FREE full day training course will take place in Edinburgh on 21st May 2019 and will cover:

  • Understanding transgender identities; language and terminology
  • The impact and dynamics of transgender people’s experiences of domestic abuse
  • The nature of homo/bi/transphobia and heterosexism and how these impact on transgender people’s experiences of abuse and services
  • Good practice when working with transgender people, including signposting

A light lunch will be provided. Please ensure you tell us about any dietary requirements when you register your interest in attending. The venue will be confirmed when places are allocated.

For this training, we are interested in reaching front-line workers in public services such as Health, Housing, Policing and the criminal justice system and social work, as well as third sector organisations that provide support, advice or information.

The form to express interest in attending this training can be found here; https://lgbtyouth.wufoo.com/forms/wcodju60fjw96x/

Please note: Registration will close on 19th April 2019.

Places will be allocated according to sector to ensure a mix of professional disciplines are able to attend. Save the date in your calendar and we will notify you no later than Monday 22nd April 2019 whether you have been allocated a space or placed on the waiting list.
