Youth Commission Residential

LGBT Youth Scotland currently supports three Youth Commissions; groups of young people from across Scotland who work together on specific topics and campaign for change that will improve the lives of LGBT young people.

We currently have spaces available for a small number of young people who currently attend our youth groups but who are not currently involved in the youth commissions to join us for a weekend residential where we will be developing skills for activism, team building, confidence building and developing resources and planning for the future. We will also be taking part in some outdoor activities.

Sign-ups will close on Sunday 20th October but early registration is advised as we have 24 places in total for young people. You'll find the link to sign up for the residential at the end of this page.

Departing from Edinburgh: Coach departs from LGBT Youth Scotland's Edinburgh Office at 2pm.

Departing from Glasgow: Coach departs from LGBT Youth Scotland's Glasgow Office at 3pm.

Returning from residential: Coach departs Sunday 3rd November at 2pm, arriving in Glasgow at 3pm and Edinburgh at 4pm.

Getting to Edinburgh or Glasgow: LGBT Youth Scotland can send you a rail warrant which you can use to cover train travel from your home to your nearest pick-up point (Edinburgh or Glasgow). We can arrange for you to be met at the destination station if needed.

Important things to note

  • Rooms are shared, mainly rooms of 2 or 4, however we will have the full centre to ourselves
  • This will be a catered residential
  • Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis
  • There will be approx 4 LGBT Youth Scotland staff/volunteers delivering the residential
  • There is a chance that you will be in a bedroom that doesn't have ensuite bathroom facilities, but there are various bathrooms/shower rooms within the venue for your use
  • Please bring your own snacks if you wish
  • We do not have control of the menu on the weekend, and there may be limited menu choice (though we will accommodate dietary requirements), if you are someone who is very particular about the food you eat you may wish to bring your own food, though we will not have access to cooking facilities
  • This is an intense and high level participation weekend. The days can be quite long, we try to balance this out with breaks and free time, but there is often very packed agendas and delays or non-participation by attendees can negatively impact the timing resulting in fewer breaks/free time
  • The weekends can also be a lot of fun, inspiring and exciting where we will play games and have a range of fun activities.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Janice Stevenson or Sarah Anderson on 0141 552 7425
