LGBT Youth Scotland announces the appointment of Dr Mhairi Crawford as its new Chief Executive from September 2019.
Mhairi comes from a diversity and inclusion background having been a Director of the WISE Campaign, a UK wide organisation working towards gender balance from classroom to boardroom, in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Prior to this she worked in the UK science industry and academia.
She says: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Chief Executive of LGBT Youth Scotland. The work the charity is doing to support young LGBTI people is invaluable to those who need support the most. In addition, the LGBT Charter provides a really exciting opportunity to further impact schools and workplaces, making Scotland the best place for LGBTI young people to grow up. This is a really exciting opportunity to lead change in Scotland, positively impacting everyone by building an inclusive and welcoming culture for all.”
A spokesperson from the National Board of LGBT Youth Scotland says, “We are delighted that Mhairi has accepted a role leading LGBT Youth Scotland. Mhairi’s background in diversity and inclusion, coupled with the wealth of experience she brings in senior leadership and directing new services and initiatives, will prove invaluable to the Charity. We look forward to working closely with Mhairi in the future.
