Purple Friday needs you

We are counting down the weeks to the last Friday in February when we celebrate Purple Friday, our annual fundraising day.

Purple Friday is so important for us as a charity as it helps ensure that we can continue to be here for LGBTI young people in Scotland. Last year over 15k was raised on the day and we hope that with your help we can top that this year.

Living under the pandemic means we can’t do the things we’d usually do on Purple Friday. So while in-person events are put on hold, we invite you to take part in our virtual event: The Pass The Torch Relay! Take part as an individual, a household or a group of friends or colleagues.

The idea is simple. While we can’t get together in person, we contribute to the collective spirit of Purple Friday and ‘pass the torch’ virtually. You can get involved on the day or in the lead up to Purple Friday. Here’s how it works:

  1. Select a challenge or activity of your choice:
For example, you could: stream a video game, run, walk or cycle, write poetry or hold a bake off with your household. Anything goes!

  2. Fundraise or donate

  3. Pass the torch and nominate someone else to take part

Need some inspiration?

Leading by example, our staff team have pledged to cover 2,000 miles running, walking, rowing, cycling, boxing and roller-skating (to name a few) to raise £2,000.

Of course, you could do something especially weird like... sponsored cat petting which Lauren Mayberry from the band Chvrches is considering!

Or you could set yourself a step counting challenge like Tech Scotland Advocates!

Got a racket? How about a Keepy-Uppy challenge just like Badminton Scotland are doing?

The possibilities are endless. Grab that torch and join our relay. With your help we can continue to support LGBTI young people in Scotland.
