Teaming up to celebrate LGBTQ+ young people at the King’s Theatre

We are delighted to announce our partnership with Theatre South Productions (TSP) for the staging of the acclaimed musical “Kinky Boots” at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow this May. This collaboration aims to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in Scotland while raising vital funds to support our ongoing work with LGBTQ+ young people.

Following their successful debut with “Grease” in 2023, TSP, based in Cambuslang, returns to the Kings Theatre under the direction of Reba Martell, a celebrated drag queen. Promising an unforgettable fusion of camp joy, glitter, and compelling storytelling, “Kinky Boots” the musical offers audiences a unique opportunity to engage with themes of empowerment and acceptance.

Nick Cohen, Chair of TSP, expresses the company’s commitment to community engagement:

“Since our founding 30 years ago, we’ve strived to create a welcoming environment for all ages, genders, and backgrounds to come together.  For all our performances, we want to give back to our community, which is why we have partnered with LGBT Youth Scotland – and it’s a perfect time with Pride Month just a few days after our final show. It’s going to be a brilliant few nights of singing and dancing which we are sure will leave the audience with a big smile on their face right from the start to the end of the show. We can’t wait to bring Kinky Boots to life at the Kings Theatre and to help raise funds for an incredible charity.”

Kinky Boots is a vibrant and heart-warming musical that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. With music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein, the inspiring story is based on true events and the 2005 British film of the same name.

Doro Weber, Partnerships & Communications Manager at LGBT Youth Scotland, underscores the significance of this collaboration:

“We’re proud to be part of this production that not only entertains but empowers and uplifts, reflecting the spirit of Pride Month and sending a strong message of support to all LGBTQ+ young people across Scotland.”

The show will run from 21st-25th May at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow, tickets are available here:
