East groups took a trip to West Port Gardens, and it was fab! Young people got stuck in with gardening, and made art by ‘sense mapping’ (making a map that isn’t a perfect top-down view, but about what’s important to people in a space. lots of maps of plants, creatures they found, and smells in the garden!). One young person found a coin while weeding; it was from George V. The garden opened in 1910, and closed for a while during WW2, so this was probably dropped when the garden was first opened! The young person showed the people running the garden, and they let him keep it ![]()
