Pride and Places: LGBTQ+ Housing Rights in Scotland

LGBT Youth Scotland and Rock Trust noticed an increase in the amount of LGBTQ+ young people who were becoming homeless due to their families not accepting their sexual orientation or gender identity.

We worked with a group of LGBTQ+ young people to create a peer consultation to understand how much LGBTQ+ young people knew about their housing rights, and what their experiences were of being homeless. ‘They Do Not Care Where You End Up’ is the final report, which was funded by the Independent Human Rights Fund for Scotland.

Our hope is that the report will encourage positive changes in policy and practice, to ensure LGBTQ+ young people can advocate for their rights and are not left behind when accessing housing.
