Turriff Academy Students Launch Podcast Series Promoting Equality and Inclusion

Turriff Academy is proud to announce the release of a compelling new podcast series created by a dedicated group of students who are part of the AMITY Equality Club. This dynamic series, developed and produced entirely by the students, aims to foster a culture of equality and inclusivity within the school and local community. Funded through the North East Culture Collective and in partnership with the local Sports Hub, this terms podcast focus has been on LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion within Turriff’s public spaces such as the library, police station, and sports venues.

The podcast series serves as a powerful platform for students to investigate and share the experiences, insights, and stories of individuals and organizations in Turriff, addressing critical issues such as diversity, acceptance, and social justice. Stewart Aitken, coordinator of the NECC commented:

"This project is a powerful testament to the voices of Turriff Academy’s students and their dedication to creating a more equitable community,

As result of the interviews AMITY are now also collaborating with these venues to ensure they are welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

AMITY hope there is a future to their series if the next generation of students want to take up the mic and start making positive changes to their community.
