Rights

A right it something that cannot be taken away from you. It is meant to protect you, and help you to live the best life that you can.

 

The United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child is an agreement between lots of different countries about what your rights are as a child under the age of 18. If you are over 18, your rights are protected by the Human Rights Act. 

 

The children and young people’s commissioner for Scotland

The children and young people’s commissioner for Scotland is Nicola Killean. She works with her team to make sure young people’s rights are protected.

You have the right to be heard, and have your voice taken into account in decisions that affect you.

You have the right to have a relationship with members of your family, in a way that is safe for you.

Right to Information

You have the right to access the information you need to make the correct choices for you.

Right to Privacy

You have the right to a private life, as long as it is safe for you.
