MYPAS Midlothian Group

Dalkeith, Midlothian, UK

Age Group: 12-21

Monday evening

The LGBT social group is run by MYPAS and this is what they would like you to know about the club!

The group meets every Monday evening, swapping between Dalkeith and Tranent, and every Friday afternoon in Tranent, and all young people are welcome regardless of local authority.

All young people must be referred in using this referral form and sent to referrals@mypas.co.uk.  We welcome self-referral! Young people will then be met by a worker for a welcome meeting to discuss needs and expectations. After that, they are welcome to drop in to any meeting that suits them and can attend 15 minutes early for the first few if that would help them to feel comfortable attending.

The group is in person only at this time, and tends to entail small activities, crafts, and chat, although there are infrequent outings when requested by the young people. We accommodate many neurodiverse young people and our group is supportive of stims, tics, and other accessibility presentations or needs, as well as respecting changes in names and pronouns.

LGBT 1:1 support

1:1 support is available through the same referral form as the group, and consists of open-ended support sessions which can encompass LGBT young people or questioning young people who are struggling with a range of issues, from difficulties at home or school, worries about coming out, low confidence, transition queries, we can work with them to find solutions or support, including linking in with other agencies where needed. There is a wait-list for this service, and we work to support young people through other agencies or the social group in the interim.
